Welcome to YourBackup. Before you start taking control of your digital footprint, we need to get the legal groundwork out of the way. By creating an account, you’re agreeing to these Terms of Service.

We’ve kept this as human-readable as possible, because a privacy-centric utility shouldn’t hide behind a wall of legalese.

1. The Agreement

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) are a binding legal agreement between you and YourBackup. By clicking “Sign Up” or otherwise using our platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t create an account.

2. Eligibility & Account Security

Age: You must be at least 16 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to use YourBackup.
Accuracy: You agree to provide a valid username. You are responsible for all activity that happens under your account.
Security: Your login is your responsibility. Use a strong password. If you toggle “Remember Me,” ensure you are on a private, secure device. We use industry-standard encryption, but your password is only as strong as your own habits.

3. The Service: Your Data Utility

YourBackup provides a platform to:

Link third-party social media accounts (e.g., Google, TikTok).
Monitor the health of those connections via our Connection Cards (Green/Amber/Red status lights).
Export your data into portable formats via the “Download Data” button.

YourBackup is a tool, not a storage provider. We facilitate the movement and monitoring of your data; we do not own the content of the data fetched from third-party services.

4. Third-Party Services

OAuth Permissions: When you click “Connect,” you are granting YourBackup permission to act as your agent to fetch data from that specific third party.
Their Rules: Your use of third-party platforms is governed by their terms. If Google or TikTok changes their API or revokes access, YourBackup isn’t liable for any loss of functionality.
Status Lights: We provide “Status Lights” as a courtesy. While we strive for 24/7 accuracy, “Amber” (Expired) or “Red” (Error) statuses may occur due to third-party outages beyond our control.

5. User Conduct

You agree not to:

Attempt to bypass our security measures or reverse-engineer the platform.
Use YourBackup for any illegal purpose or to violate the privacy of others.
Automate account creation or use “bots” to interact with the dashboard.

6. The “Danger Zone” & Termination

We believe you should have the absolute right to leave.

Voluntary Deletion: You can delete your account at any time via the Settings menu.
The Wipe: As per our “Danger Zone” protocol, clicking “Delete Account” and confirming will immediately wipe your OAuth tokens and stored data archives. This action is permanent and irreversible.
Our Right: We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or pose a security risk to our infrastructure.

7. Disclaimers & Limitation of Liability

“As Is”: YourBackup is provided “as is” and “as available.” While we aim for perfection, we don’t guarantee the service will be 100% error-free or uninterrupted.
Liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, YourBackup shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your use of (or inability to use) the service, or for any changes made to your data by third-party platforms.

8. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Austria. Any disputes will be handled in the competent courts of Vienna.

9. Changes to These Terms

We’re an adaptive AI-driven utility, and sometimes we need to update our rules. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you via your dashboard or email. Continuing to use YourBackup after an update means you accept the new Terms.
